Making the Most of Warmups

Making the Most of Classroom Warm-ups

In this ‘hands-on’ workshop session for primary school teachers, Dr Paul Swan will share professional ideas and insights on an array of classroom warm-ups featuring maths activities.

Because the first ten minutes are vital to gain the most from the rest of a lesson, Dr Swan will highlight three main types of warm-ups as he provides participants with a range of ideas for warm-ups that can be used school-wide and across different year levels.

All warm-up ideas will require a minimum of set-up and pack-up time and follow basic rules so teachers can fully focus on the activities themselves.

Suggestions will be made for differentiating tasks so that they may be adapted to suit a wide range of year levels as well as students with differing abilities.

With some refinements, many of the warm-ups can also be used as part of group rotation activities. Some of the activities may even be adapted for use in literacy.

Every participant will receive a FREE Gift Bag and there will be loads of prizes to win! Come along as a group of teachers from your school or catch up with colleagues from other schools.
