There are four proficiency strands in the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics.
While there is one proficiency strand called Problem Solving it draws on elements of the other three:

To highlight the role of Problem Solving in Mathematics we providing a “Problem of the Week”
The problems have been chosen to reflect the links between all four Proficiency Strands.
Simple suggestions and ideas for helping students solve the problems will be provided.
