Description
If your students don’t know their tables then you need this book!
Designed around a Teach then Practise, Practise, Practise approach students work through the 28 page book learning the connections between multiplication fact and division facts. Then they follow a one-minute practise session where they try to improve their personal best score. Students can then look back in the Basic Fact Blitz book to review any facts they have forgotten or need further review.
How to Use:
Basic Facts Blitz is designed to be completed over a 5 to 10 week period, hence the ‘blitz’ component. Over this period the focus is on teaching specific groups of facts, developing the relationships between them, building understanding, and then practising those specific facts to consolidate what has been taught.
Following this ‘blitz’ teachers start using the one-minute practice sheet. Teachers name the row or column and students have one-minute to complete as many questions as they can.
Each row and column has been carefully constructed so that they are the same level of difficulty. Students record the number of questions attempted and the number correct to determine their own growth.
The practice phase is about students achieving their personal best NOT comparing scores across the class.
From time to time the book may be revisited to focus on any forgotten facts.
