(Perth) DSF Improving the Literacies of Maths

There is no doubt that literacy impacts on numeracy.  In this session practical suggestions will be provided for improving the literacies of mathematics; vocabulary, graphics and symbols.

A copy of Paul Swan’s book  ‘My Word Book’  is included in the workshop for you.

Presenter: Dr Paul Swan is a mathematics consultant with many years of experience. His Phd involved determining how children make computation choices, mental, written or with the aid of technology. Currently he is working on developing a series of learning trajectories to support all learners and to help identify when children need extra support and what support to provide. He is the author of many books, maths software, and more recently board and card games (most of which are available from DSF Literacy Services.
