Paul and Narelle take a high-powered look at Differentiation that goes beyond simply changing a few numbers. They unpack Tomlison’s model of differentiating the (i) Content, (ii) Process, (iii) Product and (iv) Learning Environment, within the context of mathematics. Tomlinson’s model is the one referenced in the guidance documents:
- “Teaching for Impact” (WA)
- “High Impact Teaching Strategies” (VIC)
Paul and Narelle apply this model of differentiation to basic addition facts and problem solving, with examples from junior, middle and upper primary, using a range of manipulatives.
