Number > Properties

Australian Curriculum Version 9 Says:

Explain and use the properties of odd and even numbers.

What this means

Place value two decimal places, tenths and hundredths.

  • Even + Even = Even
  • Odd + Even = Odd
  • Even + Odd = Odd
  • Odd + Odd = Even
  • This can be linked to divisibility. Even numbers are divisible by two.

Tip

  • Ask the student to determine what happens when you add two even numbers or two odd numbers. They should be the ones to come up with the ‘rules’ of Even + Even = Even, etc.
