Australian Curriculum Version 9 Says:

Recognise situations, including financial contexts, that use integers; locate and represent integers on a number line and as coordinates on the Cartesian plane.

What this means

Students use number lines that include negative numbers. They use all four quadrants when given coordinates.

  • There is a strong focus on negative numbers
  • This is the first time integers are mentioned
  • integer; integers are the set of counting numbers, their opposites and zero, i.e. …, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, …
