Australian Curriculum Version 9 Says:
Find equivalent representations of fractions using related denominators and make connections between fractions and decimal notation.
What this means
Link fractions with equivalent fractions and decimals.
1/2 and 4/8 represent one-half. 1/2 and 5/10 also represent one-half.
5/10 may also be written as 0.5 which literally is read as “five-tenths”

- Make connections; make connections between the fraction words, symbols and physical models.
