Measurement > Angle

Australian Curriculum Version 9 Says:

Identify the relationships between angles on a straight line, angles at a point and vertically opposite angles; use these to determine unknown angles, communicating reasoning.

What this means

Learn angle relationships.

  • Complementary angles sum to 90°
  • Angles on a straight line / supplementary angles sum to 180°
  • Vertically opposite angles use the understanding that Angles at a point sum to 360°

Note: there is no need to identify alternate, corresponding and co-interior angles – that is Year 7.

Tip

  • Protractors were introduced in Year 5. Full 360° protractors are better.
